Club gascon

Utterly sublime, everything about this evening was wonderful. The small intimate room with a grandeur feel just perfectly suits a Michelin starred French restaurant. White table cloths and elegantly dressed staff respecting the barriers of being attentive and out of sight. We opted for the a la carte menu, starting with 2 dishes from the foie gras menu. Flamed foie gras smoked pine and aromatic razor clam. Theatrically served on a grill, the smoky aroma's still lingering in the air. The acidity from the vinegar cut through the rich perfectly seared meat. This along with the truffled foie gras on the rocks, was a perfect way to start. We followed this with barbecued gold fish with truffle and bacon sauce, maybe the best of the night. But with so many beautiful dishes it's a tough call. The glazed black cod with artichokes and crunchy grapes had tremendous depth of flavour and textures. For meat we had braised veal sweet bread, lobster sand (which was like a caviar) and cuttlefish tagliatelle. A solid dish once more, soft rich sweetbread perfectly balanced with the fresh taste of the ocean. Deserts was equally as imaginative with goats milk cheese, smooth and crunchy dark chocolate, perfectly paired with salted lavender cream. Another beautifully presented dish, from a kitchen that is clearly on top of there game, and hats off to the whole team. A wonderful dinner with great wine (thanks to the sommelier) and a lovely evening. Well worth a visit.
